This was brilliant, until the novelty wore off and I got bored of doing the same tracks over and over and winning every race. That situation took months to reach though. The 3D models were superb, as was the track scenery (well by 1991 standards) and it ran smoothly even on my lowly A500. It had a full F1 seasons worth of tracks (12 if I remember right) and some of the hand drawn track diagrams and background images (especially the one for Monaco) were beautifully done!

Spent ages playing this classic back in the day but why on earth did they pick such a lame, ropey sound for the engine for what was a state of the art game at the time?
Ferrari formula one was inferior to this but sounded a lot better.
The 3D graphics were top notch though although the cockpit itself looked a bit rough.
I would've loved a much better looking cockpit... 8/10

Spent probably a good few 100 hours playing this on my own and with friends in turn mode, kept championship records of our multiplayer games, with fastest lap times etc. Which i still have those records today in the same folder i used back then.
I also bought F1GP-ED from Oliver Roberts, and spent hours on end editing stuff and tweaking things in the game.
This game was the reason i bought an Amiga in the 1st place, and it didn't disappoint.
10/10

Many many many hours spent racing around the tracks of the Grand Prix world on this one. Loved the fact it allowed my brother and I to race by taking turns. We put a lot of trust in the computer to drive for us 'based on our own driving' while the other took their turn.

The best F1 GP game on amiga. Perfect cars, many setting options and real gp maps.

I've spent a lifetime believing the BBC F1 theme was a homage/rip-off of this one! Damn, should have studied Fleetwood Mac better.

A game far ahead of his time!
Fantastic gamne!

Undoubtedly the best game I owned on the Amiga. I'm a huge F1 fan and as good as the current F1 games are none of them have captured the magic like this one did

Really good game. This was better than any other similar game at the time and is still fun to play today.

The only thing that i totally must say about this masterpiece is a GREAT THANK YOU MICROPROSE for giving us such a great game. It still rocks . Microprose was No1. I think it's needless to say 10/10 . I cannot describe the memories that i have with this and other microprose games back in the Amiga days .

F1GP is the reason why I bought the Amiga in 1992. I had seen it on a friend of mine A500 and decided I had to play it immediately.
Graphics may look primitive to nowadays gamers, but the sense of immersion and the accuracy of the simulation stood for years in my memory.
My most played game between 1992 and 1999, never felt the same empathy with its sequels.
10/10 is my score

This was an awesome racing sim game, with great gfx for the time! The frame rate got a little choppy when a lot was going on, but most of the time it was pretty good and a fun detailed racer! One of my fav amiga racing games

Pretty good game.
I have this game because Amiga 600 package The Wild, The Weird and The Wicked included this game.

What a definitive, irritant Masterpiece! I've spent countless days on my car racing ever and ever..increasing skill, exploring every circuit, every bend...wonderful memories with a game that gives a real sense of realism, immersive, colourful speedy graphics..the best gameplay ever..I know every angle of F1 circuits because of this game! Unforgettable. THANK YOU Mr. Crammond, Mr Scott, ecc..!!!

Another racing game that is best enjoyed when playing it with a group of others. Very similar to a lot of the other games of this genre, but I remember this particular game having some cool race tracks.

(Posted this over at the World Circuit page as well, that's the one I played...but it's the same. I can't believe people thought the graphics were average...maybe today they are, but then I thought it was amazing to look at. AS for speed, I just recalled how friggin happy I was when I upgraded to a A1200. That's really all you needed)
My favorite racing sim on the Amiga, without question. I played this so much I actually got quite good on it. I remember everything about it gave you the feeling you were in a real race. The car's handling was excellent, the AI of the other drivers was excellent, the visual/audio presentation of the game (for the time, or course) was excellent. It all added up to hours and hours of excitement. There was noting more satisfying that coming across the finish line after a long race. You didn't even have to be the winner or even close.
Top notch and a memorable game from my Amiga history.
10/10

A revolution for racing games in the 90s due to its replayability and fun factor. A game with almost no flaws at all (9.8/10)

Very nice game, a lot of options.... And even a hot seat option (crashing the others car will in hot seat was that fun ;-))
we even edited all the teams to have them accurate for the year. Gosh, we had time....

Awesome racing-simulator. By far the best i´ve played on the Amiga. And i was very good at it. Played for countless hours, and though the multiplayer-mode was quite tedious, often with friends. I remember i even took the time to write in all the real names from the manual, and because of it i still to this day dislike Pierluigi Martini!

Oh WOW. This is the ultimate race simulator for the Amiga (not my favourite racer, but I think it's the best race simulator !). I like it a lot obviously. All 16 tracks are well designed and just like the real ones. Sounds are excellent, and there are a lot of features. Too bad it's a little slow, at least on the A500. But I highly recommend this one.

Geoff Crammond is a genius. Fantastic game. 10/10

This was a goundbreaking game at the time. I wore away so many weekends playing nothing but Geoff Crammonds masterpiece. The Graphics were a little bit bland but it simply didn't matte, thanks the the ammount of options available and the immersiveness of the gameplay itself.

I never got into this but it was quite possibly my dad's favourite game, ever! I think he completed the championship several times and was impressed with how accurate the tracks were and the level of detail and attention that had gone into making it. Very good game only really let down by fairly basic graphics.

Great racing game, with nice graphics and game play. Played it non-stop for a while. A lot of details, and the circuits are very well made!

Excellent game and music although I think Mansell's one was better.

Great racing sim, but even more impressive on the DOS machine. Still a good Amiga game!

Maybe KK33 is referring to Revs on the C64, the granddaddy of this which did come out on the C64. This wasn't my cup of tea, I can certainly admire the depth and wealth of options that this game featured, but give me Stunt Car Racer any day, and Lotus II for arcade racing. No disrespect to this game, its quality is undeniable.

Hey KK, can you email me this phantom 64 version? Or, better yet, squeeze a game like this into it?

This is a classic. I spent hours and days on this one (both on the Amiga and on the C64). Not strange really, as it's a MicroProse game. Thumbs up for this one!

Excellent game! But how to get f1 editor? I have updated teams but have to put some older teams too because this game has 18 teams and in season 2006 there are only 11...

Oh, yeah, meaning of life...
Remember turning on/ of the auto brakes to get max speed in and out of the bends.

Deep and fun at the same time. A great technical achievement for its time and still a gem today.

One of my favourites. THE simulation.
You had to study the courses, just like a real pilot.
And then came GP2...
Thanks Geoff...

Can't stand watching the real thing but my friend got me hooked on this game years ago. Ran better on my A1200 in NTSC mode then it did on his A500 stuck in PAL. Great game for the serious racing fan though perhaps not for anyone who just wants a quick arcade racer like the, also great, Lotus series

Just out of interest, why would anyone who doesn't like Formula 1 pay £35 for a perfect recreation of it? Lots of money, or little sense, or both?

A very good racing F1 game back on the Amiga in those years and it had good GFX, good sound, good race design and to be quite honest it was fast enough to keep people entertained

Fantastic game! I remember used to play this with 6 friends in a real championship season! We were watching real F1 G.P.s on the TV and after we were switching on the Amiga and virtually re-running the race! How many hours of fun and competitions we had with this.
Techically speaking it is superb and I consider this one the first real modern F1 simulator (the circuits are reproduced almost perfectly, curve after curve with all the possible details!) and really a great game by the Geoff Crammond genius.

Voi turkanen! This was a cool game... And it still is! With F1GP editor you can update it in many ways.

The graphics of this game is like this other Formula One game, it's pretty slow, but still not a bad game.

I know I'm on my own here, but I found this even more dull than actual Formula One.
A great programming feat no doubt, but even when I gave it another go after upgrading to an A1200 I was frustrated by the frame-rate.
I wanted to like it, I really did - £34.99 was a lot of money to me in those days!

One of the most advanced simulations ever seen on the Amiga, with almost every aspect of racing introduced. Other than a few very minor details (the over-generous damage model and the lack of link-up play) this really is perfection.

A stellar racing experience. Inventive multi-player mode for playing with friends. I do like more arcade-style games, though, but this game scaled down to all tastes pretty well.

Great game. I´m ashamed to say that I played this being invurnable and not having to break for myself. Some races I just ran into other cars, forcing them to end the race.

This game is technically superb. Borderline perfection. Geoff Crammond deserves all the respect he gets.

THE driving simulator. Geoff Crammond is a genius! I just love this game.

The attention to detail in this recreation of Formula 1 (from an era when it was rather better than it is now) is astonishing, with control over car setups, excellent AI, believable weather effects and generally excellent graphics. All manner of new tracks, car-sets, damage models and other patches were made for this, and most should still be available online. Good if you're not interested in F1, amazing if you are.

Best and most realistic racing sim on Amiga. Best to be played on an Amiga 1200 (with expansion board) for a faster 3D experience. A classic.

Geoff Crammond strikes again. Great simulator. Unfortunately not as simply fun as his seminal Stunt Car Racer.
