This (also called Pro Tennis Tour II) is a nice game, and still fun today. But people seem unaware of Super Tennis Champs - no. 22 in Amiga Power's final (i.e. 1996) all time Top 100 on the Amiga and now a successful iOS game, which is not only the best tennis game on the Amiga, but better than the console offerings of the day too. It gets inexplicably little recognition on here.

Bonzracer, I absolutely agree about the great 'feel' of this game.

There's just something that exists in some games that can't be replicated by cold, calculating business plan.

A funny anecdote about this game..

I told a PC-owning friend (this was when PCs used DOS mainly) that I want to show him a nice Amiga tennis game. He groaned, as if in pain; he didn't want to see some stupid tennis game. Sigh.

But once we played, he actually blurted out loud that he wishes PC had such great tennis games - he was really hooked to this game, and loved it. (Of course, as a honest human being, I told him that there actually is a DOS version of this game - but I haven't tried that game to this day, as this Amiga version is so great, there's no need).

This was the reaction of many people - they groaned at the IDEA of having to play a tennis game, but loved the ACTUALITY of playing this tennis game. This game just is that charming, it can win over haters (with some exceptions, I see, but still)

I don't think a '2D' tennis can be done better than it has been done here. Even if someone makes a more detailed, more complex or option-filled 2D-tennis game, there'd always be something missing - at least the charming and inspiring atmosphere. You can even hear that atmosphere in the sounds. I almost went to an euphoric trance every time I heard those sounds, and marveled at the intense atmosphere they oozed.

Tito, what a weird post about other systems.

This is a great game, and whatever you try to do in your post, doesn't diminish that.

I wonder if this is the same game as "Pro Tennis Tour 2". I hate when the same game has different names. Stupid marketing people changing things.. A name should be sacred, and remain always the same. If Maniac Mansion was known as 'Curious House' in France and 'Dave's Dilemma' in UK, would that really be considered acceptable?

Joeled, I wonder if during these 9 years, you have been beaten. I used to share that same delusion, as a friend who always beat me in games, couldn't beat me in this one (or IK). Absolutely no one beat me in this, until another friend one day did it. He just demolished me.

If he played against you, chances are, he'd demolish you also (he had this game when he was young, and has played computer and video games all his life). I would probably lose to you, but there's always someone better (unless you are Bruce Lee).

This tennis game is one of the best things ever made - it has a wonderful atmosphere, great sound, and lovely, tight gameplay. The best tennis game for the Amiga. If we must talk about other systems, then "Virtua Tennis 2" for the DC takes the cake, then "Wii Sports Tennis", then this. And then the SNes tennis game. Then Atari 2600. Then C64 On-Court Tennis. Then.. Probably actual tennis.

Warning before comment and spend time playing any Amiga game: search any port and compare. For example, in consoles editions, multi buttons are way better than "hold button+move" trap!
In that case, the PC version gameplay is much improved: more angled shots with chances to put the ball out, and the bugfix of easy serve from right to left. Only lower audio quality, but without the bleak voice

I have never cared for tennis, but this game was actually quite fun. One of the better sports games. Good graphics and control.

This besides Advantage Tennis was on eof the best because it was simply easy enough to control and master. It had nice GFX and sound but I think Advantage Tennis was more of a challenge

I am not particularly a huge tennisfan, but I was very fond of this game back in my Amigadays. It's the best tennis-game on the Amiga. Nice graphics and sound and the playability is superb. The game handles perfectly and every move can be done easily. The two player mode is only pushing this game further up. Great great game for tennislovers, but also for peolple who are less fond of this sport! Try it!

Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 8/10
Playability: 9/10

Overall: 9/10
