Only played it on a CD32 but it is not listed here! Not knowing what certain items do and other numerous short comings hinder the gameplay. 8/10

Compared to its ancestor, this one has some ups and downs.
Positives: More characters to choose from. The maps aren't dictated by the tiles from the original board game anymore. Characters actually gain experience.
Downs: The interface is really awkward in large rooms. After pretty much perfecting a turn based interface in Space Crusade, why does this game not have the same advantages?

Very good game with great menu music but it has some flaws. Game lacks option of ingame saving but on the contrary it has only nine levels. On one hand too few levels, on the other hand the gameplay is still longlasting (no saving option during the level). The game has quite good factor of exploring the area. The levels are big and you can search almost anywhere. Great sequel to the Hero Quest.

I was turned off by turned based games, thinking them "too PC". But I bought this one not knowing it was turned based and absolutely fell in love with it. It really opened me up to the combat method. Games like Baldur's Gate, that allow you to pause while playing, took turned based to the limit. It really is the way to play if you have a whole party of characters you have to deal with, unlike my fav Amiga game Dungeon Master. I played the War in Middle Earth game on the PC and found it quite fun, but ultimately get frustrated in the heat of battle since I can't properly pause to direct my party. Really takes a lot away from an otherwise first rate game. But this one got it right. Good one!!
