Good times, good times. Classic chess with all the usual rules and whatnot, but accompanied with some very entertaining animations! I actually remember first teaching myself how to play chess with this game, just so I could see the pieces attack each other. Even when I was older I still had to admit the animations make it much more amusing. A good example of how presentation can enhance gameplay!

Exactly the same game as the CDTV version. The only reason of a CD32 version is because the CDTV one is not a CD32 compatible title.

Over-rated chess game.
Why do people play chess? To look at nice graphics or to have a challenging game?
Whilst this game looked nice it's chess-playing was a bit shit to be honest.
And after seeing all the animations a few times, as with most proper players you were soon glad it had a 2D top-down version.
The game does deserve credit I suppose for introducing people to chess who might otherwise have avoided it.
To play retro-chess games is silly anyway, computer chess is always about calculations per second....
