Amiga Power get a lot of (well deserved) stick for their harshness and negativity, not least from me. But I'm not afraid to them credit where it's due regarding this game.

When I first saw this game I didn't like it much at all, and never bothered with it for a long time. The graphics seemed a bit anaemic and grainy, the sound a bit sparse and the aliens jump out of nowhere giving you no time to react. All really off-putting.
But..... Inspired by Amiga Power's glowing appraisal of it in issue 22 and 85% score I was intrigued and forced myself to give it another try. After all if Amiga Power (of all magazines) says a game is goodcthrn surely it must be?
And I rather enjoyed the game in the end. I found it to be tough but enjoyable once you give it time and put aside its aesthetic flaws. Well designed levels and tough gameplay kept me coming back to it until I finished it.
Not as atmospheric as the Alien Breed games but worth a try ... 7/10

A mildly diverting shoot-em-up which went entirely against the film with giving Ripley a big-ass gun and having LOTS of xenomorphs (it's a bug hunt). I'd play it from time to time but I'd always return to the FAR superior Alien Breed.

Better than most comments seem to indicate, in my opinion.

Quite atmospheric background graphics and a nice selection of weapons (spacebar).

Many game back then were hard and Alien 3 is not that difficult for an old skool game.

I bought this well after it was prime software. I must have got it in mid 1993 or something like that, because the Amiga died soon after, I think. Still, this game gave me quite a few vibes. The playability was very good, the level design was quite well done and the graphics were rather cool. I thought that the choice between music and SFX was a rather primitive one. Were it a bit better programmed and the game could have offered the choice of both simultaneously. At least I think so, judging from other similar games that the Amiga had. But it had its great little things, like the ability to use both fire buttons. All-in-all, it was a good game that gave me a good time in the final stages of the Amiga as a premium gaming platform.

I really wanted to like this. Graphics and sound are great. Even the gameplay is enjoyable to some degree. However, this is just one many games that were too difficult for my skill level in my early teens. I didn't have the patience to try unbalanced levels again and again when similar games on Japanese consoles got the difficulty curve right.

Speaking of Japanese consoles: You might want to check out the SNES version of this game. As far as I gather from available playthrough videos, it superior both visually and gameplay-wise.

I couldnt be bothered remembering where all the hostages were so I left it to my bro who seemed to churn through the levels like i could never manage. One of those games I enjoyed watching as opposed to playing.

There are better versions (SNES) and better platformers out there. Although I really wanted to enjoy this game, being a big fan of the franchise, it just didn't do it for me. The graphics and interface are good but the gameplay is poor at the best of times, the levels are overly difficult in places which makes for a very frustrating gaming experience. The atmosphere is very well done but really cannot make up for this games list of faults. The least of which, and what bugs me the most, is that it doesn't really tie-in with the actual film...

Other ports are better IMHO, esp. I liked SMS version very much.

To be honest, from all those Alien 3 games, the snes version is simply the best.

Why it's not Alien 2?!

Could have been a good Alien game with a bigger range radar and recalibrated difficulty. It's way too hard!!

A great game, specifically I found it amospheric and as an Aliens fan it was ideal for me. The only issue I had with the game was that the megadrive graphics were slightly better than on the Amiga and I felt like I was missing out a little. Still , very good.

Why the hell in this game are hords of aliens to be shot, while in the movie there is only one Alien and no fire weapons?

Good game that can get very tricky in places. Good music and sound effects add tension and atmosphere, all thats missing is the parallax scrolling background.

This is a good one BUT could have been better with just a few common sense additions. How about a auto-mapping guide option. It has a two button joy stick function which is great but the other button is for jumping instead of weapon selection so you have to hit the space bar for this. Seems like they just needed to have some competent game testers to provide this criticism and it would be a much more enjoyable experience. 7/10 Haywire

I quite liked this, it was refreshing at the time and was very Megadrive in style, which was no bad thing, the aliens look great and make you jump from time to time, nice game, recommended.

Not bad, but no big deal. The atmosphere is correct and as someone said below, the scanner is interesting. The degree of difficulty is quite high as the game runs.
To waste time ... Good game.

Certainly not as good as the movie but that's not the point. As an action game, this was quite funny. The attacks were frenetics and the weapons to kill the aliens were really powerful. I liked the machine gun and the flame thrower. If you have a bad day at work, try this one. You will not play it very long but it will pass your nerves.

As with many movie tie-ins on the Amiga, this game has sod all to do with Alien 3. Its a good game for a quick blast, with a decent atmosphere. The scanner is a nice touch, but what is with that shocking excuse for a flamethrower?!!! Reckoned the Mega Drive version was better than the SNES one anyway, more playable.

I haven't rated this since I haven't played it but I agree with the comment below, that the SNES version of Alien3 is brilliant. I still play it now and then on an emulator. If this is like the Mega Drive version then I heard that it's not too shabby but from the screenshots, it's no match for the SNES version which also had a fabulous movie-inspired soundtrack.

Not a bad game - tired of it kinda quickly but it was a decent version of a game that looked a whole lot better on the SNES at the time.

Hmmmm Alien3, well I liked the "Alien" movies but this game didn't match up to my expections, GFX were OK nothing special as well as sound, but gameplay after a while was like "yawn" because we've been there & done that. I suppose if you're a fan of the film, you'd enjoy it to a certain exten but it aint a carbon copy of the film

As a huge fan of the Alien movies, I was curious about this game at the time. When I got it and played it I was a little bit disappointed. The game is OK, with decent graphics and sound, but it just didn't have enough change in the long run. I also got frustrated sometimes when an Alien jumped me in a small passageway out of the blue without me able to do something about it. So Alien 3 is a good shooter, better than a lot of others out there, but not good enough to be special.
