You know what , I'm not gonna open with "Pretty Good game etc." because I say that all the time.
It IS a good game, mind you, but the enemies and especialy the bosses really don't stand out that much, which is a real shame seeing how well designed and varied they were in the Commodore 64 version.
I do like how many weapons you can use at the same time though.

Was this not actually banned (this or Denaris, or both) due to it's resemblance to R-Type? Was never a fan of this game anyway, very tough. I actually preferred R-Type on the Amiga, this was just a poor imitation.

Frightening graphics, but sometimes the action deserves improving. A so-so R-Type clone, nothing to di with brilliant c64 release.

Yes, the c64 version is much better!

Not very good looking graphics but quite decent shooter. (61%)

R-Type clone. Playability, GFX & title music is good. Twin of this game is Denaris.

One word: ugly.
there are a lot of C64 games far better than this.

This one sucked completely IMHO. Greyscale graphics with a little blue in. No music inside the game. Sound FX that sounded like farts. Weird extra weapon system. Too difficult. In short, this Amiga conversion of the C64 classic by Manfred Trenz was a shame - for the name Katakis, for the Amiga, and of course for Factor 5, one of the most hyped game makers ever. Play the C64 version which is the other extreme - great music in every level, more colourful graphics (on the C64 with its 16 colours, compared to the Amiga with 16/32 out of 4096)! Better weapon system, better gameplay, better everything. In fact the Amiga version of Katakis was what started to drive me away from the Amiga back to the C64. (Later game the Amiga versions of X-Out, Powerdrift, and more, that really sucked compared to C64). Katakis on the Amiga - what a shame!

Great shooting fun, but the difficult level was incredibly high! Hats off for those who finished it without cheating or trainer

One of the first Amiga's arcade-quality H-shooters and perhaps the first R-Type clones came out. It has speed, good sounds and solid game-play.
Only the difficulty level (set very high...) spoils a little bit what otherwise would have been among the top notches.

Katakis is an excellent shooter, very similar to Denaris (Hmm, wonder why that is?!). This is one of the better examples of the genre, and although it's difficult, it's also very addictive, and you will want to beat your last game. Oh yes!

Feels slightly "homemade", and design-wise not as polished as R-Type (of which it is a clone), but still a decent shooter with some good action and good music. Too hard for my tastes, in the end.

Too hard to be fun, but overall a nice shooter with cool music.

Freaking hard, and completely different from the C64 version, but at the time this was the closest approximation to R-Type on a home computer. I remember drooling on the graphics for months at my best friends' house. Besides affective reasons, I still think it was a nice game.
