Though the controls are a little... Screwball (F1 to select Berserker, Space to activate berserker rage, Enter to rally the rest into combat mode) and the movement AI is just plain dumb in places, the other mechanics of the game are very interesting. I used to own a copy of this for the PC back in the day, but just couldn't wrap my head around the magic system. Just finished playing it for about two hours and actually had fun this time around, and after reading through the /reference card/, I now understand it.

This one and its sequel are two examples of those underrated little gems in gaming. Although technically ordinary and lacking a thick storyline, it had some great touches such as the totally open spellcasting mechanism, brawl-like fights (though not everyone will like that much chaos) and mind-boggling puzzle rooms. Unlike traditional RPGs it is also pouring with magical items and it can be a real blast to combine them. Give it a chance today if you ovelooked it back then!

The best RPG on the Amiga. The Spell system was amazing, the puzzles were great and logical, and the whole atmosphere was just right.10/10

Ok, first off - I managed the game when it was an Image Works title, and I bug tested it and wrote the manual and the official hint book - but this is still a good game. The spell system is still one of the best I've seen, letting you create your own spells - great fun!
