One of those games you'd fire up just to listen to the wonderfully atmospheric in-game music. As for the gameplay, it's more luck than judgment as to whether you're using the right tactics and thus progress can be slow. Nevertheless a very worthy Amiga title.

Great game, and one of the best soundtracks ever published to an Amiga game. Excellent experiance, even now!

The intro music haunts me till this day.
Not in a very bad way... When I hear it now I instantly get transported back in time.
It had that typical Amiga sound. If you know you know.
I still have some memories about reviews of this game in magazines, it was truly something very special.
This was also one of the hardest games I played on the Amiga. I got my ass handed to me in record time. Never could finish it, but now thanks to wonders of the internet I finally could watch people actually finish this game.
This game was way ahead of it's time.

Just... Awesome ♥

Wonderful music, different mini-games (the sniper one is technically perfect), rendered pictures and intensive atmosphere of Vietnam Jungle. All of it makes Lost Patrol the best Vietcong shooter game at least on Amiga
What's worse, it seems to be impossible to finish it, because of food supplies which are running out very quickly
Update 24/08/2017: Mission completed, welcome to Duhoc. It took 25 years only. You must never rest for more than 50 minutes and food issue is solved even in double march. That's all. Is it cheat or bug?

Its was just uber awesome with those movie clips that was showed randomly while you move your troup, reminds me of the tv serie Tour of Duty that was sending at the time. Where the americans got their ass kicked

A great classic! A small group of US soldiers crash in Vietnam with a Helicopter, they're injured, have almost no food and ammo, and you must lead them back to freedom, through a jungle full of Vietcong soldiers!
The game was inspired by the popular Cinemaware titles, which mostly offered great presentation but little gameplay. Apparently the developers tried to do better, but in that regard they didn't succeed. While the game offers fantastic graphics and sound, plus a great athmosphere, the gameplay is rather repetitive. You move around your group of soldiers, sometimes interrupted by mini games. Still, the game is absolutely worth playing and there is nothing that feels remotely similar to Lost Patrol!
WARNING spoilers ahead:
It's easy to beat the game if you know how, otherwise it is impossible. All you have to do is to never rest for more than 50 minutes, if you rest longer this costs food, and without food you're practically dead. Moreover, it seems pointless to visit the villages, as this gets you killed most of the time.

This is one of the very few masterpieces in gaming history. Too bad it is far too easy once you got the hang of it.
I only wish someone would do a remix (or even some of them) with another map. Would it really be so difficult to do?
Most of all this game really makes you think: "War is hell!" All wargames should have this message for never letting it happen again. I think the world would be better if all producers of wargames would be aware of this responsibility while doing a game concerning war.

First thing that struck me was the digitised animation! I stuck with it for a while but as there was other games waiting in the wing I gave up.

This game is simple but amazing, the music, the atmosphere. Very difficult but very funny.
The bug that KC0000 is talking about appeared only in the 1.0 version but if you can get the normal version you can play until the end (if you can, heheheh!

use the original version and not a copy.

Awesome game, but unfortunately, it's one of those amiga games that has a fatal, game stopping bug in it... The game plays fine till you get to the middle of the screen then when you move your unit over to the east once more, and the screen scrolls for the first time, your unit will get very screwed up, like for example, all my members were 100% healthy, but i took ONE more step to the right, and the screen scrolled and it said "weaver is dying" "your men squabble and complain about minor things" and one of the members will start going crazy, and do some random nutty thing, and i'm like .............................WTF.....?!
does anyone know how to get around this? I'm using the very standard/ compatable 512k ram default, ocs, and 100% compatable drive speed... I keep restarting a new game, yet it keeps happening every time.

Makke speaks the truth, he knows the koo.
when you play lost patrol you feel as though you are the last platoon in vietnam, the people who made these games truly understood perception and the possibilty of computer games, even in their embryonic stages.
i am forever in your debt unknown computer experts, games like lost patrol made those early 90s exceptional, pay respects to this game if you are true, if you are like nemo then you are queer....

Fantastic atmosphere, very oppressing. Too difficult, never got really far.

Chris Glaister's haunting music for this game is forever etched in my mind! The small cut scenes blew my mind first time I saw them - it was probably the first time I ever saw that on a computer.
Very difficult, but that only added to the atmosphere. You could really feel the despair of that lost patrol.

Nice game. I played this one until I completed it. Just some text and an american flag is what I remember as an ending. It was tough but fun. The music was quite good.

Cool game but very tough to beat.

If you mention Lost Patrol to anyone they will instantly remember the digitised sequences and the music.
I remember playing this for hours on end but don't think I ever completed it.
An very good but quite difficult strategy game.

Very original game but unfortunately it is more arcade than strategy. The game is very repetetive and after the second play it becomes boring. A little advantage in this is that the game randomly generates all the statistics, injuries, traps and events. It is nice but still does not help in challenge with not long lastability. The music, although very atmospheric, pretty soon becomes dull and can annoy you. Nevertheless it is still good game with a bit of climax, especially when you take under consideration the year it was published. Nice GFX and animations too.

This game was one of the most anticipated games at the time. Lush graphics, great moody music, a good story and a solid strategy section. Yet not a real classic: the subgames in the game are not very good. Some are too easy, others are too hard and distract you from the actual main game itself. Great ideas but average execution.

How would you feel if you were in a jungle, surrounded by enemies and with less food than you need? You'd probably feel sad, depressed, desperate, and that's exactly how The Lost Patrol makes you feel. I guess no other game has such a powerful atmosphere, this truly was a classic.

Great atmosphere in this one. And that tune rules big time! Check it out!

Good game. Strategy in style of Tour of Duty. Well known because of its digitized cut-scenes, and its fabulous music which adds a great deal to the atmosphere.

I love this one!
Brilliant graphics and music, interesting gameplay. I can hardly think of any other game providing such an unique mixture of entertainment AND despair. A really sad trip into the jungle, motivating nevertheless. The Lost Patrol kept me playing for hours and hours, well, I never lost my motivation actually...

A good game overall. Although in some aspects it is really difficult, plus the graphics appear a little boring during the long gameplay. Yet, the game manages to give the right atmosphere and assures alot of fun.
The sound overall is very nice, yet only if you like that kind of games.
In addition you have a vast variety of different options to choose from. Such as different ration for your company, and options for searching the area and so on.
To conclude one can say that is a good game, but yet one has to like that genre of games.
