The nice technical touches, such as floor parallax, pretty colourful graphics and animations a la Panza Kick Boxing, cannot detract from the fact that Master Axe came out long overdue in terms of gameplay. It takes us back to the time of the first Street Fighter (Amiga port I mean), where you could defeat every opponent by brainlessly repeating the same pattern over and over.

Master Axe totally came out of the blue when it was released. I can't remember any announcements or previews. I picked up a copy of a game magazine one day and there was the review. Low score. It was like Islona had found an abandoned game and immediately published it without prior marketing.

I don't remember this one at all... But after launching the game I knew why =)
Well, not the worst 1 on 1 beat'em up on the miggy but not a godd one either. Lame playability, slow, hashed animations, etc... Some graphics aren't that bad tho (but nothing exceptional).

Very average imo, 5/10
