Mercs is not an accurate conversion, but it is a decent game per se. It could have been much better, of course, but as it is it offers some fun. The Amiga games library is not very rich in top down run and gun shooters, hence Mercs is worth a play (6/10).

Another game an older friend of mine (how many two player sessions with rodland and silk worm) liked. He had the amiga 500 before me, I had an 1.3 amiga he had a 1.2. I never liked this game though. That friend of mine never had a c64 or 128, he never heard of something like commando or the likes. We both played the very nice Core Design War Zone a lot in two player mode, we had a lot of fun, and Alien Breed too, those were nice days

Maybe the best conversion made by Tiertex. But still pretty distant from the original. Vote 5/10

No. Sorry. It may look good but it doesn't play good. I knew the arcade version well back in the day, having played it more than a few times. When I first saw pictures of the Amiga version on the magazines I liked what I saw and felt compelled to buy the game, despite the reviews not saying great things about it. It turned out that they were right and I was wrong... Looking good is not enough. This was just an average shooter that doesn't make the arcade version any justice.

One of the best, uh, least worst Tiertex conversions?

Good arcade and a very fine conversion. The only good game from Tiertex. Definately worth a look. Nice big bosses too.

I played this every chance I got in the arcades. This version wasnt bad but lacked the overall gfx. Great gameplay tho and I have to admit, I played this a lot. Then i seen the ST version with the big part of the screen missing and thought the Amiga's was more than competent for an arcade coversion. cant complain really.

For some reason I quite like this game, sure it doesn't look fantastic and its not a classic but its good fun for a quick blast.

A bit more than decent. Anyway the arcade didn´t have so much "state of the art" It´s a simple shooting game. Well, I insist: a bit more than decent.

One of my favorites anyway.

I found this one quite decent.. For sure the only decent game from Tiertex on Amiga. Itsnt smooth like other games, but it has many of the features of the coinop.

Miles better than Warzone.. Untill then the only decent games like this on Amiga were Commando (Overrated and repetitive) and IkariWarriors (Good, but old when this came out)

At least a decent work form Tiertex!!

Slow and bulky, if you want to play this and not spend money in an old arcade, play the mega drive port, or, MAME. Not a bad effort tho.

A bit of guilty pleasure for me this one. Complete Amiga sacrilege but I kinda preferred this to the Chaos Engine!

MERCS is a multi-scrolling shoot 'em up conversion of a coin up. I must say that this is a pretty bad game. Graphically it's very crappy with VERY shocking scrolling. You just get a headache by looking at the screen, which for some reason has been reduced in width. This last fact makes the playing area considerably smaller than what could have been the case, limiting your view very much. Your enemies stay basically the same throughout the game, which is also getting boring. Sometimes you can use some vehicles along the way which works very bad. The only way you move is up and down visually, so left and right can be done without turning! A very realistic touch! The two player mode is a crude attempt to save the game, but the earlier mentioned points make this an awful game. Leave well alone!

Graphics: 6/10
Sound: 5/10
Playability: 4/10

Overall: 5/10
