tertronostalgic2014-07-17 (8/10) A conversion of the C64 classic, the thing that most stood out for me about this was the stunning sampled sound throughout - courtesey of the late great Richard Joseph. Control was a bit sluggish but that didn't matter too much Good graphics and gameplay too - 8/10 View all comments (248)
MCMXC2014-07-03 (7/10) I dislike games with jerky scrolling, but this one at least was fast enough to make me enjoy it. And overall I liked it a lot! Vote 7/10 View all comments (40)
tony day2012-10-18 (5/10) Interesting concept (C64 version was better though in my opinion) and nice GFX and FX let down by horrid controls and jerky scrolling. View all comments (96)
apachacha2011-11-18 (7/10) Not a bad concept, enemy designs and graphics are very good, but the way you attack is really clunky, changing the weapons to the ones the situation recquires is slow and awkward and doesn't prevent you from getting gang raped from both sides and, worst of all, you cannot attack while ducking. This makes hiting Anubis in the second Egypt stage a real problem (the only way I managed to kill him was with the ankh and the blue eye, but pulling that off was another can of worms entierly).
In adition, some of your limited side weapons do more damage then the giant axe or sword you wield, making these practicly useless against non vermin enemies later on.
An interesting little side note, during the fight with Odin I encountered a weird bug. The amount of throwing daggers (which are the only thing that damage Thor and can even hit Odin) I had, even though I picked up a ton in the earlier portion of the level as well as the ones strew about by Odin's red dragons, seemed random. At one point my character would throw around thirty axes and still have more but when playing this level again with the same amount of amunition, the daggers suddenly ran out after only four or five. This ilustrates an annoying flaw in the game, that all throughout the game are enemies that just will not take damage from anything but one specific item, which can sometimes run out.
Not a bad idea, but the controls just made it too frustrating, even though the last, shmup-like level controled well. View all comments (102)
stooart2011-01-14 (7/10) I have to comment again. This was one of my old time faves on the C64 and the Amiga version runied that from the start by making you a kind of warrior as opposed to the kinda normal dude with jeans and stuff. Still though it blew me away on the commy and the Amiga, although looks a bit better in places, fell short of one of the best games in C64 history. Don't try to recreate it. I just wonder why some software houses felt obligated to make versions of a computer game that was far way insuperior but made better games in it's own respect? I've no idea). For me the commy 64 done what it had to do. The Amiga was it's big brother and shouldn't have had to bow down to such "inferior" games. They both still stand but both could have been far superior had they not tried to emulate other machines. this could turn into a long debate. One that should be opened up. View all comments (524)
Gaelion2009-06-20 (9/10) One of the best arcade platformers on the Amiga!
Once you get the hang of controlling the character the game is totally fun. Great graphics, plot and sound as well. View all comments (13)
danangleland2009-01-17 I won't give this a score, because I didn't play the full game, but I did play a coverdisk demo. It was one of those demos I remember easily because it was so fun and captured my imagination so completely. The way the character moves and fights feels and looks good, and I just enjoyed the whole feel of the game. View all comments (45)
Reo772008-10-02 (9/10) This game was totally unknown to me. What I found here and intrigues me, then I played, and I can say it's fantastic. I love its gameplay, how to attack and use of weapons. The reactions of various attacks on our enemies. The sound is very good and the graphics too.
stooart2005-11-28 (7/10) Didnt really give this one a chance as I had been through it all on the commy 64! What I have seen of it though looks impressive but that could be just a myth. Ho ho. View all comments (524)
Azy772005-08-06 (9/10) This is the first game I played on the Amiga and what an introduction to the system. I had the Amiga hooked up to huge speakers and the sound alone was worth the purchase. The first level captured an excellent atmosphere for hell with a crystal clear sounding environment of tortured screams and the main character himself was brilliant to control. You had to reach for the keyboard for some keys but with WinUAE all the keys can be configured to a joypad. There was a good variety in the levels aswell and get this: the last few levels are like a horizontally scrolling shoot'em up in space. Brilliant stuff, I voted a 9.
Zagrebo, I downloaded a demo (coverdisk of Amiga Format I think it was), it was the first level and I couldn't hear any piano music in it. View all comments (14)
Zagrebo2005-06-21 (7/10) Quite tricky but enjoyable, good-looking and clever platform arcade-adventure. What happened to the wonderful piano-music that was in the demo version? View all comments (145)
Chaotica2005-03-26 (9/10) I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are gorgeous, as are the sounds. The game bounces about from one mythological location to another, from Hell to Anciet Rome to Thor's Court to the Pyramids, and achieves it all very well. The gameplay is fun - you have an assortment of slashes and stabs, so that you can overcome opponents in a vareity of gorey and satisfying ways. I can't see how the game is slow - it is not as fast as Sonic or Mario, but then again it isn't that type of platformer. My favourite level is definately aboard the Viking ship. One of my favourite Amiga platformers. Try it. View all comments (30)
Shunichiro2005-01-27 (7/10) As far as I know, they changed the hero from your average Joe of C64 version into muscular barbarian because the game was supposed to come out on consoles besides Amiga as well. And as far as I know, it never happened. I'm sure it was a wise move. The game would have been lost amidst all great action games on SNES and Megadrive. Myth is too tedious and inadequate to compete with the best or even just good console games. Nice graphics and all but the game is lacking. View all comments (166)
steef-online2004-12-30 (7/10) I played this a few times on my C64 and years later it hit the Amiga. I never understood why they changed the main character. Myth is graphically very good. Also the sound is very good, with some nice effects and some speech thrown in. I never played this much, because I thought the game was to slow. There was to little action in it and I often thought they made the game just to show of the graphical and technical genius. This is a good game, but not superb (in my opinion!).
Predseda2004-12-06 (8/10) It is an Amiga classic. I have an original game and completed it few times (there was a cheat for unlimited lives). Superb atmosphere, supported with perfect graphics and background sound-effects. Controls were a little bit lazy. This game was distributed on 3 floppy discs with new Amiga 600 HDs, BUT the game itself was non-DOS, so you are unable to install it onto your HDD! View all comments (768)
