Ratso, Maybe you are misremembering. C&VG (Issue Jan 1991) had Robert Swan's review, and he gave this game a 91% (C64 Version got 1% more).
A fun coin-op, but the 'home conversions', as usual, are disappointing. It's remarkable, how much Amiga's potential was wasted on crappy conversions, and how many coin-op conversions in general were ruined.
Nowadays, even the good conversions are not -quite- as good as the originals, so there's no reason to play the Amiga (or C64, or any home computer) versions of most of them.
Thank goodness for MAME+VGA2SCART-cables, Arcade Controllers, Soft15kHz and bright CRT televisions..

Why do the enemies have a pose that looks like they have to pee?

If only the crouching controls had been sorted out this could have been a fun little 2 player game. Unfortunately it totally irritating instead. I nearly threw my controller at the screen when the 150 millionth respawning dog flew at me and started to bite my knees because I couldn't duck in time!

There was a time when i played it A LOT. Couldn't get why looking at it today. But after a few cans of beer it can become funny with a friend at your side. But I'd say you should go play the Arcade version on M.A.M.E. Instead.
For it's time it was a nice conversion though. I've seen much worse in my life ...

Total mindless, insane violence....but strangely addictive for a whil until the levels got so damn repetitive. By no means a classic but fun on two players for a while.

I actually liked this one. Was pretty good on 2 player mode but the joystick control for squatting annoyed me a bit.

As an arcade port, Narc is mediocre, Ocean quality: only a slight improvement over the ST version, which on that platform was actually okay - in fact, good enough to have real sound effects and not the usual ST beeps.
Random Access are credited for its development, but the individuals behind SWIV or Ninja Warriors were actually not involved, and it shows.
Even though the graphics were re-drawn from scratch (but I'd rather have that than poorly ported digitised gfx like Pit Fighter), the Bronson-like violence is still rendered with good effect, but all in all, Technocop is still my fave brutal crime-fighting game on the Amiga.

1989 this was originally made but didn't get released 'til 1990 I think cos of problems surrounding it & it shows. It's weak in most places, GFX are sub standard & sound well again, dull.

Yes indeed Martin; Rise of the Robots anyone?

That's nothing compated to what Ocean owed Paul Rand. Every review score in C&VG had a price in those days.

Thanks Paul Rand of C&VG magazine for giving this a ludicrous 96% - I still feel like you owe me £25.99!
A weak conversion of a spectacular coin-op. Also the difficulty had been toned down from 'rock-hard' at the arcade to 'finish on your first go' at home.

Shooters seem to be more successful the more blood and guts are flying through the screen. The coin-up conversion Narc tries to use this fact, but fails miserably. You are a guy (or two guys in two player mode) who has to bust hard criminals. Walking through the levels you have to kill enormous hordes of baddies and their pets. I guess the underworld has mastered the art of cloning, because all baddies are exactly the same! Graphically this game is not good and soundwise this isn't spectacular either. This game doesn't play very bad but sometimes your character just fails to do what you want and always in critical moments. This game just isn't good. It's maybe entertaining to the violent gamer, but only for a few minutes.
Graphics: 5/10
Sound: 6/10
Playability: 6/10
Overall: 5/10
