I've played this for sometime this morning and I must say it seems so difficult from the start that you start playing it with no hope in a sense of desespoir until it starts growing in you and every little progress is being seen as a big achievement, every bit of progress screen after screen, wave after wave. After a while you start to see there is actually some logic under the apparent difficulty and a thought sort of gameplay and enemy patterns. The graphics are very nice in a retrospective manner and the game make you want to progress, I think it's a worthy shoot-em up at the end, I like it, there are a lot of as much difficult shooters for the c64 that are considered very good despite their apparent difficulty, too much time this was underrated, 8 out of 10 for me
Edit: the more I play it the more I like it, excellent shooter!

This game is an embarassment. Armalyte is one of the C64's best shooters and here it must be one of the Amiga's worst. It's too difficult and when you die, the game almost reboots so it takes a minute or so before you can play the game again. But why bother when the game is this bad... 2/10

A great conversion from the old Breadbin one. Nice retouched graphics, good sound, great playability. But it's fuckin' damn hard to complete ... But I don't count this on the bad side as always. You will need quite some time and training to get through it. If you like hard but fair shoot'em'ups than you should try this. Way more compelling than the C64 version.

Not a bad shooter, the regular enemies were sort of stock, but the bosses were pretty impresive.
Oddly enough the really surprising last boss seems to go down the easiest of all, even when you're expecting him to have a second form.
All around, pretty good, even if a little on the hard side.

Just played it and wow, I'm really impressed in a negative way. It's way (!) too hard, so there's really no need to download it. Play the 64 version, it's so much better.. 2

This game have good graphics (not awesome) but is totally unplayable because it is very, very hard. The screen is full of obstacles and enemies. The c64 one was a good one. Bad one in Amiga

Well i rather like this. It's very tough but you can make progress if you persevere long enough. After level 3 the difficulty drops a bit, but most would have given up before then. Level 5 has some gorgeous graphics, but generally it's not as rip roaring as it should've been. And yes, i've completed it without cheating... 7/10...

Holy cow! Awesome graphics, nice sounds but the rest is just a miserable attempt to create a good shoot'em up. One thing - it is boring. Second thing - it is stupid because it is difficult. Everything more depends on luck than on your skills to kill the enemies. Some of them seem to attack as long as you stay on the screen. Thalamus wanted to have games from each genre... Well he did, but not everyone was good...

What the heck is this garbage? The graphics are awesome, but the gameplay is complete and utter trash. Looks like Arc Developments was better at simply porting games rather than doing original ones. They had the programming and art talent, but obviously didn't know how to actually design a shooter. This is unplayable dreck.
1/10

Look what we got here: a total shmup failure! Annoying sounds, crappy controls, boring leveldesign, dastardly enemies, ultra-rock-hard degree of difficulty, no continues and awful loading times. (24%)

The Amiga version is much better

As stated by many people before this is not a good game.
Avoid this poor porting and try the far better and playable ILYAD instead if you want to play something on Amiga really close to the great C64 game.

What a shame, this couldve been a hit alongside R-Type and so on, but it failed BIG STYLE, yet I still play it now and again for nostalagic purposes

This got totally screwed on the way from C64 to Amiga, leading to a great 8-bit game becoming a crap 16-bit one. How could these things happen so often, nobody still knows...

How did they fail to make it a good shooter?! Bigger and better machine didn't help this time...

This game was such a dissapointment after the C64 version which would have had to have been my all time fav shooter. So much potential could have and should have been passed over to the Amiga
