More than average plataform game.
Sometimes will make you very angry, but with a little patience you can finish it without problems.
The best thing is the main music in the title screen, but the music during the game is childish.
To beat the 3rd monster you must have at least level +3 of any weapon.

Bought it for the shitty LCD wristwatch that came with it, stayed for the game.

This is a fantastic action game that could be easily pass as an arcade conversion or as a coin-op per se. Unlike the abysmal versions of games like Ghouls' n Ghosts and Black Tiger, Risky Woods succeeds in bringing to the Amiga lots of arcade action that is also excellently presented both graphics and sound wise. Unlike the average arcade game, anyways, here some reasoning is quickly required, since picking up or buying items quite carefully is mandatory to survive as the play progresses. Risky Woods is very difficult and at times unfair but it can be still satisfactorily mastered (8/10).

Too limited gameplay doesn't stand with the very good technical qualities.
Too linear and repetitive, exasperating enemy 'behaviours'.
The game needs more stuff in gameplay.. Vertical stages, some 8-way scrolling.
Also, while technically the layout permit plenty of colours.. The graphician wasn't very inspired in enemies and sprites.. With exception of final bosses which graphically were topnotch.
A not fun arcade.

Newer generations of players will be appalled by the high difficulty of the game but back then, it was kinda the norm. Personally, I could do without the infinitely respawning enemies and the harsh time limits. Still, I must say Risky Woods was a pretty decent platformer.

You'll either love this or hate its guts out. The first two levels are second hardest in the game. Level 2-1 and 2-2 are the hardest. After that it becomes more enjoyable with better levels and design towards the end. The 'Turrican like' controls are superb, and so is the music. There are some crippling 'game design features' which let the gameplay down, such as the constant respawing when trying to jump over gaps, but having mastered this game I have a healthy respect for it.

Awesome title. Very addictive and plays like an old arcade game. Great graphics and fairly good music. Give it a shot.

Very good. Never owned this one so I thought i'd give it a go. A very nice plactformer in an arcadey style and it pretty much works.
Pros:
Good character design
lovely colourful parallax
music and FX during gameplay (gasp)
nice fast arcadey gameplay (a rare thing for the amiga)
lots of variety in eneimes and weapons.
Cons:
slightly dark GFX
have to duck to pick up coins
respawning enemies
enemies that have unfair attack patterns (level 2 head sucker things)
no 2 button option
no bloody continues!
25 fps rather than 50.
A few small niggles there;... The few tiny issues are forgivable but thoses few gameplay bugs bring it down a bit. I dont mind a game being tough but it has to be fair.
Still, if I owned this back in the day I would of been very pleased with it and not crushingly dissapointed like when I brought Switchblade 2.

Indeed this is very good and challenging game. The difficulty level is progressing according to your achievements. Graphics are superb, although sometimes too dark but still atmospheric. At first jumping doesn't seem to be smooth but after a while you get accustomed to it. Music is varied and catchy. Highly recommended though it makes me wonder why the score is rather low...

Fast and furious monster killing (one of the prizes available appears to be cans of coca-cola). The background colors are a bit too dark for my liking, but how much can I complain--everything else about the gameplay/animation is high quality.

After playing this one for a while, I finally "got" it. I realized that it didn't actually have any of the things that I hate about Ghosts 'n' Goblins (like the slow movement, lack of variety, and general shallowness), on top of being a graphical powerhouse (lots of cool effects, although the colors are way too dark in the "daylit" levels), and I ended up liking it a lot more. What's up with the name, though? Bad translation?

One of the best platforms for the Amiga.
graphics are superb, sound is very good, and the gameplay is highly challenging. Finished it twice back in the days.
9/10

Basically it is Ghosts 'n' Goblins, with nice graphics and music. Controls are good and the difficulty is well ballanced and challenging. There are few special bonuses, that makes the game even better.

Fun to waste time. The most notable are its graphics. The
Gameplay is good, although a bit difficult.
Graphics:
Gameplay: 7

Along with Zool, this is the first game I found out about after learning that the Amiga market was horrible in the US but much better in other countries, including the UK. Eventually I tried the game and felt it was okay. Zool is more fun since it's much better thought out. Both are certainly memorable in the huge Amiga platform game library.

A good game, though maybe somewhat on the difficult ("challenging" ) side.
The graphics are very good, similar to "Elvira: The Arcade Game", though not the kind that one would want to look at for a long time (such as those of "Gods" for example).
But still a good plat-form action game.
