Best footie game ever

This is certainly the definitive title in the series, the swerve pass/through ball feature is great and it's hard to go back once you've tried it. A definite 10/10. There is a 20 year anniversary '16/'17 version for the Amiga based on this one (the update is also available for the PC but this is one series the PC never managed to get right).

I must say, that this is with out any doubt one of the best games of all time. I have played on c64, amiga, pc and a lot of other platforms - But SWOS 96/97 on amiga is just comming back Again and Again. Today I'm 37 and recently got an A1200. I have already started up SWOS almost 400 times and I enjoy the game just as much as back then. I cross my fingers for an update on the player database someday.

A few small improvements on Sensible World of Soccer 95/96, this version of SWOS is in my opinion the best and stands up as the most complete football game ever written.

This is the best footie on Amiga. Nothing could compare with this game in terms of carrer mode with myriads of teams to select from, having many differents leagues to play and tournament to take part in. Truly amazing feat made by Sensible Software.

Some might say graphics count every time, but everyone knows if there's no game play no point playing the game anymore. There will never be a full updated swos game ever again because it's all about money in the end. They don't want people playing one football game what can last 7 to 15 years until they can beat it & some might say they still haven't. Who wants to play fifa 14 when your defender can't win the ball with there head & the forward scores if you don't believe me look on YouTube. Swos still the best but only just 14 years on & counting.

Sorry but i prefer kick-off 2. This game looks like it was designed for kids. The Dino Dini Hit is my favorite and a World championship is organised every Year. In 2014 it will take place in Danmark. See you there.

I loved all of the Sensible Soccer games, but this was the masterpiece. Still play this alot to this day. Probably my favourite ever game...

The Sensible Soccer games, the only football games i ever loved...

I'm not a football fan, let's get that out of the way first of all. But I really can't understand why this game got everyone else that is, so mental. Were the controls that good? I didn't think so and I enjoyed playing a number of other football games a lot more and they seemed much more responsive and realistic. Perhaps it is the strategy side of things that I'm missing, I just don't know.
I'm clearly in the minority however, so I'm fully prepared to admit I'm wrong. 5/10

Best Amiga game ever! Now that we're at it, BEST GAME EVER!!!

Truely the best football game for the Amiga. I remember enjoying Player Manager on the AtariST before this, but when SWOS was released; all other footy games became obsolete unless it had Sensible Soccer in the title. Sharp controls, distinctive graphics, addictive gameplay with good use of sound. The only criticism I have with this game was with your squad. I remember having a lowly english division team attracting the likes of George Weah & Jurgen Klinnsman, and being able to buy them; which of course wouldn't happen in the real game. A player wouldn't play for Rochdale if they could play for ManU. Still, a quality game which holds a special place in many people's hearts including my own. Recommended!

The best Amiga Soccer game never seen.
Playing is really simple and sprites are well done even if maybe only 4 kind of skirts and 8 colours is few (have U seen Boavista skirt?).
I vote 9 (10 is impossible).

This was as good as it got on the amiga and is still more fun to play than most modern games.

Nowadays you can not play a soccer game for more than a year, while i play this one for at least 15 years (starting with the first sensible soccer in 1992).
10/10.

That's the Sports masterpiece of all time. Great gameplay, and the game shows surprises all the time. You think you know all aspects of SWOS? Then you're wrong Did you know that you can play SWOS online vs. Anyone in the world? That's just awesome...

One of the most famous games released for our machine, and with good reason. It takes the superb gameplay of Sensible Soccer, adds a ludicrous number of teams, players and leagues, throws in a mangement feature and comes up with something that will take over your life if you let it. Ridiculously addictive and playable, and is enduring in a way this year's Pro Evo and FIFA games never will be (as good as they are). For my money, it's the greatest game ever released.

Amazing game, I still play it now (all be it on Xbox 360 Arcade) hehe. It has stood the test of time. Before Fifa, before Pro Evo... There was Sensi

Definitely the best soccer game for amiga and one of the best on any platform.
I used to love Microprose soccer on the C64 and hated the control system of Kick Off, so I was very pleased when Sensible Soccer came out and when later the managerial part was added.
Preparing my own tactics and spending days and weeks bringing Wigan Athletic from the last league till the Champions League made an unforgettable experience.
I played SWOS again a few months ago and found it as entertaining and challenging as 10 years ago. I even imported all the data in a MySQL db in order to quickly search the players I needed!
Great graphics, sound and playability. In a word: 10!

I loved the earlier Sensi's, and then SWOS came along and I wasn't sure about the change in gameplay at first... Then realised it was even better. The updated versions (which came as an addon disk for existing SWOS owners) made it even better. Love those looping headers. 10/10 and no exaggeration.
Err, Cego.. For all PES's plus points, it is very inconsistent with passing, making 'X' passes unpredictable, free kicks are poorly implemented STILL and I can get frustrated at it after a few games. Having said that, I can't really get used to Sensi after so many years- it's too fast for my eyes and brain to cope!

Simply put, this is my favourite game ever.....on any format.....it's just so good.
Right now I love PES2008 on my PS3 but I still say to friends that I wish it had SWOS' management and transfer system. All those leagues and players, a basic financial system for the club, real money for players. Just so good.
10/10

Ok guys, I played this game for hours, but to say that it is better than those soccer games out now is foolish. Have you ever played pro evolution soccer 2006? Sensible soccer doesn't even have different difficulty levels. Sometimes the computer just goes crazy and you can't do anything against it. I mean its really addictive but after a while it gets boring and too hard.
In PES06 you can really do everything you want and the controls are really easy and it makes a lot of fun, a really fantastic game. And please FIFA06 is and was pure crap.
But Sensi is the best soccer game on the Amiga. Period. (85%)

You wouldn't believe it, but there are hundreds of people still playing this game online. There's a very large community at www.sensiblesoccer.de . I still love this game. It really stole my childhood, but it seems it's stealing my adult life as well.

One of the best footy games ever! Still more playable than all the sports game updates we get every year! (91%)

Titch123 is right, anything else they try simply doesn't work.

They should keep it the same, just update the leagues and players.
SWOS is a classic!

I wonder why they bother releasing it again... Has anyone played this so called "Sensible Soccer 2006"? It sucks!

The best Amiga game ever! Even now its much better than all the new fancy games like Fifa 06...
The gameplay is absolutely fantastic!

Legendary game. The actual football is playable, massive amounts of teams and players, and a nice management mode. It doesn't take hours to work out whats going on. Sensible Soccer was a great series and for me has the best playabilty and lastability of any soccer game.

Possibly the finest Amiga game of all (for a football lover)!

Nothing short of incredible. Highly playable, fast, furious, easy to control and hard to master, crammed with teams... What else could you wish for? Oh, yes... Goal!, but that came after this, and until it did, this ruled supreme.

Kick Off is like pinball - in Sensible the controls are actually related to the direction you move the joystick in. This is a masterpiece - the initial version of SWOS was far too bugged and half-finished to build on its potential - this version rounded it all off and included everythign you could want in ana rcade football game coupled with a good supporting management mode.

I was never a fan of SWOS in any of its' incarnations. I preferred Kick Off and Emlyn Hughes, even Microsprose Soccer over SWOS. It is more like pinball than football. Actually, it was more like basketball - you attack, they attack ad nauseum. And it was too easy to exploit the AI and score. Stupidly over-rated? Yeah, I think so.
It did have a wealth of teams and a reasonable career option, though, so I suppose it deserves some credit for that. But nowhere near my top 5 footie games.

Very good game... I played 95/96 very much but this game is still the same. Some new features such as sound (Cheering) and updated teams. There is a sort of bug in the game also... A funny one! There are 2 "Bebeto" in the Brazilian national team

... This is THE simple most FANTASTIC game EVER devised EVER. This game cost me my social life but was worth every second of antisocialness! I would sooner kick my missus into touch and live a life of celebacy than deprive myself of the memories I have of taking HB from the Faroe Islands to the European Cup final against Real Madrid in my second season and beating them 4-3! What a wonderful game indeed.
10/10... Anyone who votes less needs shooting (they were obviously crap at playing the game or had some kind of oddball kink towards the highly inferior Kick Off games)

The best version of this great series. Still the best soccer game around. Fifa is lightyears behind in gameplay.

So here it is.... The best Amiga game ever! Voted nr. 1 in the [www] Alltime Amiga Games Top 50!
I remember organising Sensi compo's at home with friends & joining the compo's at the Party....
Gameplay is still way better than the current FIFA series (2004, 2005); only graphs are a bit simple. Nevermind, this game rocks!
