What a game! Superb graphics and those sound effects REALLY are bang on the mark. Intense two player action can be had by this one. I didn't like the idea of paying to play games when I had a computer at home so I was never in the arcades so no idea what the arcade version was like but I loved playing this. Definitely need a decent autofire for this.

Silk Worm on the Amiga beats the arcade version in terms of playability. It plays really well and is technically competent even though nothing amazes in terms of graphics and sound. One of the best horizontal shooters on the machine (8/10).

I dunno. When I first got it I kept playing and playing and playing ... But somehow - at least for me - this very title didn't keep my motivation up for over the ages ... But what ya know ... Maybe I should just give it a try right now ...

Top-knotch arcade conversion. Looks the part, sounds the part (excellent meaty sound effects!), plays very well indeed. A must-play.

Excellent game. Very intense and well balanced shoot'em-up that I played quite a lot. May look a bit dépassé but it plays like a top game.

A great game. But why the colors are C64-like? At least at the first levels they are.

With 2 players this game was awesome! The chopper was more easy than the Jeep, but ok

One of my best 2-player experiences on the Amiga, period. Fantastic game!

A decent Amiga arcade conversion for once. This is probably among the top 3 or 4 shoot em ups on the system.

The proof that it was possible to do perfect arcade conversions on Amiga. Silk Worm is awesome in every detail and counts among the best shoot-em-ups ever.

I liked this more than SWIV, but of course playing the jeep was much more difficult than heli. Basically, this game is imporved Army moves. I really love the title tune! Brilliant!

Great game that is a lot of fun in two player mode... A must for any amiga collection!

Simply the best Shoot 'em up on Amiga!

Had the same experiences of loflo; played a lot outside, this game was a masterpiece on every home-computer, from c64 to Amiga, in particular this one was unbelievably 'cloned' from the arcade! Killer gameplay. Hats off to Sales Curve

Played it a lot with my sister. Really fun

I remember playing the arcade version of this game at the local fast-food joint, and then going round to a mate’s place straight afterwards only to find him playing it on his Amiga. I could hardly believe it. It was as if he had the arcade version right there in his living room.
That alone would make me always remember this game, but not only is it a top notch conversion, it’s actually a really solid shooter in its own right.

Tell you what, I liked this even more than the arcade game itself!

Using the jeep is really useful against that one tank that sneaks up from behind, stays at the screen border and shoots missiles in all directions. Using the heli, you can only dodge it while keeping an eye on the other enemies on screen.

The name Silkworm figures in the story, in which it is claimed that the fate of mankind dangles by a single thread, a thread so gossamer-fine it could have been spun out of silk.

Great game. Graphics way ahead of its time made you wonder why so much that came after it was so bad! Intro music was great too. A bit on the tough side without cheat modes. 8/10

One of my fav. 2 player shotemup games...

Silkworm is an awesome shooter with insane explosions. In 2 player mode, the jeep was always the underdog while chosing who plays which, but when you got the hang of it, it rocked

A very hard game, but I loved it

Excellent gameplay on this very good arcade conversion, I used to play with the Jeep with a friend and we completed the game several times - a real classic

Brill! I remember playing this with ma bro in the summer of 89/90! He always took control of the jeep and we had cracking times on this game! It was just so frantic and those explosions were so realistic, I can still remember that booming sound when you killed one of the big baddies! Great stuff.

What a game, me and my bro would double up as heli and jeep, loved the fat boss plane too.

Simply brilliant.
Gameplay was great because:
- Co-op 2 player - Teamwork really paid off
- Frantic - loads of sprites at once
- Paced - Brief lulls to recover before the next onslaught
- Fair - Enough lives, learnable patterns
- Lasting challenge - master the chopper then graduate to the jeep
The graphics were OK. The explosions would almost blow the speaker cones out when connected to a hifi!
With the sound cranked and a halfway competent buddy on the other vehicle this game really got the adrenalin going. Wonderful.

I like this game, especaly the multiplayer mode. Awsome

Quite an accomplished coin-op conversion; decent enough graphics, and meaty sound effects. Very good fun in two-player mode, although keep in mind that whoever gets the jeep is going to have a much tougher time!

The graphics aren't the prettiest ever seen, but don't be fooled: this is a cut above the typical shoot-'em-up. Best with two players.

I don't give a damn what anyone says. The jeep kicked ass. It made the game for me. Without the lil jeep it would have just been a fairly generic horizontal shooter though still highly playable. Good co-operation was needed against certain enemies which added depth to the game. Brilliant sound effects and music too. And this is one Amiga conversion that is far better than the arcade original.

A perfect game. There are few of them, but this is one of them. The titlemenu welcomes you with a brutal song, you argue with your friend about who will control what and then. It is just. Perfect. Nothing but silence and constant explosions and you never ever release the trigger and you never ever lets your heart relax for one single beat. Swiv was good, but Silkworm perfect. Even the title is perfect.

I love this! For some reason I wasn't expecting much from it, but when I did play it, I was astounded! The action is fast without being too ridiculous, and the Graphics are very clear and smooth. Silk Worm is of arcade quality and one of the best of this genre to play. A winner!

Excellent shoot'em up, intelligently converted thru a general graphic restyling and not thru a direct porting, which would have sure gone horribly wrong. The arcade was definitely graphics-heavy, but the new look works and the gameplay is intact. A classic.

Solid arcade shoot'em up, especially the sound effects were incredible. The 2 player mode is what makes it interesting, since controlling the jeep is way more difficult and therein lies both the strength and weakness of the game (as in the superb original sequel SWIV). A personal favourite of mine.

This game brings back a truckload of fond memories! Great gameplay although the chopper rocked and the jeep sucked. If your were playing with a friend you´d have to fight over who got the be the chopper. Sadly I lost almost every time...

Silk Worm is a horizontal shoot 'em up. And a nice one, although I don't think this is a superior product and certainly not the best horizontal shooter. This game was later "converted" to a V-shooter called Swiv. You'll recognize the soundFX immediately. Graphically this isn't top notch and the graphics seem the same after a half hour of play. The soundFX are brilliant! Turn up your stereo and WWIII will break out in your own little room. Playability is good. Although a little hard, but hey... That keeps you coming back (or else use a trainer!). Silk Worm is okay... The "sequel" Swiv is heaps better!
Graphics: 6/10
Sound: 8/10
Playability: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

This was the first game I was playing as a kid when I was at my old friend´s house in Sweden! Sound is not so good... But playability is very nice... But can be hard also

Splendid arcade conversion, great with two players and even better with the sound pumped through a decent amplifier or hi-fi. Best played in two-player mode, although it's usually a fight as to who gets to be the helicopter!

Pretty cool shoot 'em up. Used to play it a lot some 14 years ago. Rather easy if I remember correctly. Great two player game!

Solid arcade conversion and fun in two player mode. Although no one ever wanted to play the jeep (same problem was with SWIV).

A often over-looked shoot 'em up. This was the predecessor to SWIV, and prooved quite playable.
Nice sound effects too.
