I love the old point-and-click adventure games, especially Leisure Suit Larry is my favorite. Space Quest is a beautiful game. I love the box the game comes in and the in-game graphics are nice and chunky. However, this first part in the Space Quest series is a little bit simple in the story department. There is not a lot to do from start to finish. However, it will still take quite some time to get to the end, mainly because it is very easy to miss a fital object because you haven't looked close enough or just because you have to know it is there. That is somewhat frustrating in places. Also the many sudden deaths tend to get annoying really fast. Still, there is plenty of humour and strange characters to meet and it actually feels satisfying when you end the game and know that you have saved the galaxy from extinction. It's a nostalgic experience from start to finish, a classic!
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 5/10
Playability: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

Sierra adventure games are the ones you love or hate. There is nothing in between. If you like them you just consider them as good or very good. If you hate them, easily you may find whatever you want to prove your point. That said I consider "Space Quest 1" as a good game. It might be a bit short but still it is quite challenging, especially when you can basically die in any moment of the game. The weakest point of the game is that it is purely linear - there are no extra points to gain in order to discover something eye-catching or interesting. Still the game is worth playing and you will have a good fun (if you like Sierra's games). A little downside might be absolutly weak sound in this game.

One of my favorite adventure games. I especially love that droid shop and bar on kerona.

I love this game. After Leisure suit larry I played this gem, and the humor in the game is just awesome. I loved all the Star wars references

If you can live with the not-so-hot graphics, this is really an entertaining space adventure. SQ I-III are all good adventures from the golden days of Sierra.

A blast from the past when PC had crap graphics so this looked piss poor on great Amiga. But as a game Space Quest was fun, challenging and interesting. And suddenly those blocky graphics didn't detract from Roger's first mission.

The Space Quest series (SQ 1/2/3) are possibly Sierra's best adventure games, certainly my personal favourites. Art in its finest form. The screenshots alone bring up good memories for me. True classics from the early PC days. Everybody should play this game and its sequels. Nostalgia at its best. Not to be missed.

Excellent game - good story/humour.. Although I'd have to disagree with Trantor over the graphics - they are fucntional and pleasing to they eye - much better than the horrid remake <puke>

Another solid Sierra adventure marred by horrid EGA graphics.
